If you missed the last one, here’s a quick recap:

Ryan Campbell, a graduate research assistant at the University of Tennessee working under his advisor, Dr. Christopher Strickland, presented his research on the topic “Individual-based Social Network Subcommunity Models of the Opioid Epidemic.”

Summary: Opioid-related mortality has steadily been on the rise for the past three decades, with over 806,000 overdose deaths recorded since 1991. Motivated by previous models, we have developed an individual-based model that separates individuals into independent groups called communities and clusters. With the model, we can track the drug states and social networks of individuals through time.
