Use UT-visitor or NIMBIOS computer to do this part

• If you don't know your UT Net-ID, you can look yourself up in the directory here:
  https://directory.utk.edu/
  
• Once you have your UT Net-ID, you can set up your password here:

NOTE: Remember your UTK netid and password. If you forget your password, you can go to OIT in the Library (across the street) to have it reset. Helpdesk hours and contact information can be found here: https://oit.utk.edu/help/helpdesk/Pages/walkin.aspx

• Connect to the wireless network labeled “UT-open”.
  The UT-open network is available all across campus.
• Open a web browser and go to:
  https://netreg.utk.edu/
  
• Click “Register Your Computer” and follow the instructions.
  You will need your netid and password.
  

• You will need to set up your UT email by following the instruction here:
  http://volmail.utk.edu/
  

The UT Library may be accessed here:
http://www.lib.utk.edu/

• Ejournals are available locally when using the ut-open network, or externally by loging in with your netid.
• Google scholar off campus search:
• Google scholar settings for utk:
  • Go to: http://scholar.google.com/scholar_settings?hl=en&as_sdt=0,43
  • Search for University of Tennessee Knoxville
  • Check to add that library to google scholar search. It will include a link to article accessible through the library.

You will need a UT Net-ID and access to your UTK email in order to get a license for Matlab.

• Windows 32 and 64 bit binaries are available. If you don't know whether your installation is 32 or 64 bit, you can check by following the instructions at the following link:

  (You are probably running 64-bit.)

Your netid gives you access to other software as well. Choose home use for your laptop. If you have any questions you can ask NIMBIOS staff or UTK Helpdesk.

• Go to: https://oit.utk.edu
  
• Click: “Download Software” (under “I Want To…” on the right)
  
• Click: “Download Software” (under “Log In To” on the right)
  
• Click: “Log In”
• Select: “I am installing this software on a personally owned computer, not on a UT-owned computer.”
• Click: “Continue”
• You will be presented with a vendor list. Clicking on a vendor will show you the software available, and for what operating systems.

While on campus you can print to any NIMBioS networked printer.
