Contained herein is a list of know bugs and problems that plague us all, and what you can do about it. The contents of this page will change periodically with feedback from users like you, so please feel free to contribute to this knowledge by conveying your experiences to the NIMBioS IT manager. Console Login

"Could not update ICEauthority file"

If you see this error on login:

It usually means one of the following:

The solution:

"Sorry, the package blcr-dkms failed to install or upgrade"

If you see this error on login:

This is a known bug that has been reported to the Ubuntu developers, but as yet the cause is unknown and there is no fix.

The solution:

"Enter password to unlock your login keyring"

If you see this error on login:

This is because Ubuntu uses a centralized password management keyring tool that stores all passwords in a single database that can be managed with a single, master password. Sometimes this took gets confused.

Printing

Nothing Comes Out Of The Printer

If you send a job to the printer, and nothing comes out, it usually means:

The Solution:

I Cannot Print Duplex From Microsoft Office Applications Running Under Wine

This is a known problem, and there is currently no fix.

Remote Access

"WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED!"

If you see an error similar to this when you attempt to connect via SSH/SFTP:

This usually means that this host has been re-installed or upgraded since your last connection. But it could also mean that someone malicious is attempting to hijack your SSH/SFTP connection.
