I am broadly interested in the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of small populations. My research is motivated by the growing threats of species invasions, emerging infectious diseases, and loss of biodiversity. I address these issues by considering adaptations that mitigate extinction risk and promote population persistence. With an integrated theoretical and conceptual approach I explore the complex causal relationships between process and pattern regarding spatial structure, genetic variation, and life history evolution.
