Meet the NIMBioS staff

Laura Clayton

Business Manager

Originally from New England, Laura worked at the University of Vermont for more than 21 years before joining the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in September 2021. She began her UTK career as the Business Manager in the Department of Nutrition and now serves as the Financial Administrator in the College of Arts and Sciences Administrative Office. Outside of work, Laura loves spending time with her grandchildren, camping in her RV, attending athletic events, kayaking, and hiking.

Laura is now providing support for NIMBioS following the retirement of longtime Business Manager Sherri Dugger and we are happy to have her. We thank Sherri for her 35 years of dedicated service to UT and wish her all the best in her next chapter!

Jondale Stratton

IT Manager

Jondale Stratton earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UT Knoxville and has over 20 years of experience with systems administration and software development. He volunteers at the local makerspace, KnoxMakers, and currently serves as the organization's Technical Director as well as lead for the Lasercutting zone. In his free time, you'll often find Jondale building laser cutters, riding tractors, fighting robots, and tending to bunnies.

Graham Derryberry

Research Programmer

Graham Derryberry is the Center-wide Research Programmer at NIMBioS, where he does software consulting for research, with a specialty in adaptation for submission to computing clusters like Rocky. He also assists with hardware and software for data collection in the field and in the lab. Graham earned his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from MIT. Graham has an interest in 3D printing, including toys and props for holidays.

Kristen Mecke

Project Manager

Kristen Mecke is an ecologist by training and received her MS from Missouri State. Before joining the NIMBioS team, she worked on multiple NPS teams and managed several research labs. Her love for science and her organization/planning skills landed her here. In her free time, you can find her whitewater rafting, doing yoga, or hiking in the smokies

Liliana Farabaugh

Communications Manager

Liliana Farabaugh received her bachelor's degree from West Virginia University, where she studied public relations, communications, and strategic social media. During undergrad, she interned for KinetX Aerospace and NASA Independent Verification and Validation Facility. Liliana is passionate about science communications and making science more accessible to all. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Strategic and Digital Communication at the University of Tennessee. In her free time, she enjoys going to the gym, spending time with friends, and nature walks with her dog.
