Catherine Crawley was the Communications Manager for NIMBioS. In her role, she managed the NIMBioS website and WordPress sites, wrote and distributes press releases and promoted NIMBioS research to regional, national and international media, managed and produced videos, and wrote and distributed newsletters, brochures and other marketing and advertising materials.
A former management and leadership consultant with the Gallup Organization, she consulted for Fortune 500 companies in the United States and Singapore, including Toyota, SAP, Wal-Mart, and Standard Chartered Bank, as well as the State of Nebraska Governor's Policy Cabinet. She has taught journalism and English at the middle school, high school, and college-level. She began her career as a newspaper reporter at the Star-News in Pasadena, California, and covered the White House and Congress for trade publications in Washington, D.C.
She has a Ph.D. in Science Communication from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Vanderbilt University, and a B.S. in Communication from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her dissertation research focused on frames and sources in local newspaper reporting on genetic engineering.
