The 11th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference at the Interface of Biology and Mathematics

Date: November 16-17, 2019

Location: University of Tennessee Conference Center, Knoxville, TN

Objectives: The eleventh annual undergraduate research conference will provide opportunities for undergraduates to present their research at the interface of biology and mathematics. Student talks and posters will be featured as well as a panel discussion on career opportunities, a graduate school showcase, and networking opportunities. Faculty and students are invited to attend, as well as high school teachers.

Support: Limited support is available for student travel and lodging.

NIMBioS Support: Limited support is available to cover the cost of registration, lodging, and travel. To request support, you must use our online application system:

Deadline to request support: September 25. Priority for support is given to those presenting talks or posters, faculty/student groups traveling together, juniors and seniors, and those adding to the diversity of the conference (broadly defined as diversity in subject area, gender, ethnicity, scientific field, geography and type of home institution).

If you are requesting funding, do not register for the conference until you have been contacted by NIMBioS about the status of your funding request. If you register online before appropriate approvals, your registration will be transferred to the regular registration fee category and you will be responsible for full payment.

  • Cost: $80 for students, $135 for faculty, includes dinner Saturday, breakfast and lunch Sunday, all beverages, snacks, and conference materials.

Abstracts: Please submit an abstract for your talk or poster (not both) by email to urc2019@nimbios.org, following our required abstract guidelines, available here. Abstracts for those requesting NIMBioS support must be submitted the day of their support application. For other attendees, please submit abstracts no later than October 16.
